Today, we are telling you the story of a woman, who cleared UPSC after facing many difficulties because she was preparing for two exams simultaneously. In her first attempt, Srushti Jayant Deshmukh, a resident of Bhopal, secured an amazing AIR 5.
1. Secured AIR-5 in UPSC exam
Srushti Jayant Deshmukh secured All India Rank 5 and became the top female candidate in UPSC CSE 2018.
2. Engineering and UPSC together
According to the report of UPSC Pathshala, Srushti Jayant Deshmukh, in her third year of engineering thought that she could not spend her entire life with a simple job as an engineer. After which she started preparing for UPSC along with her engineering.
3. How to prepare for two exams?
Srushti Jayant Deshmukh says that along with preparing for the UPSC exam, studying engineering was very difficult. She used to spend maximum time and energy in UPSC preparation. She used to prepare one to one and half a month for her semester exams of engineering.
4. Parent’s support
Srushti’s family always supported her decision. Srushti's mother is a teacher and her father is an engineer, but they never asked her anything like what she was doing and why or how she would be doing. They always tried to give a healthy environment to Srushti.
5. Distance from social media
Focus is very important for UPSC preparation, says Srishti Jayant Deshmukh. She thought that her first attempt would be her last attempt. That's why she deleted her social media accounts before started preparing.
6. Watched RSTV for preparation
Reading newspapers daily and watching Rajya Sabha TV (RSTV) helped Srushti Jayant Deshmukh a lot in preparation for IPSC, she said in an interview. Apart from this, online study material was also helpful.
7. Tips for UPSC aspirants
According to Srushti Jayant Deshmukh, “while preparing for the UPSC exam, keep it in mind that this is the last chance and your competition is not with lakhs of people, because all the students appearing in the exam are not serious. Your competition is only with those who are taking the exam seriously, so remove the fear from the mind.”
