It was on this day back in 2019, when New Zealand ended Team India's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup campaign as they defeated the Men in Blue by 18 runs in the first semi-final at Old Trafford in Manchester.

In the encounter, which took place over two days due to bad weather conditions, India got off to a horrendous start in chase of a target score of 240 runs after the Kiwi bowlers rattled the Indian top-order.

Matt Henry dismissed Rohit Sharma (1) caught behind while Virat Kohli (1) got leg-before off Trent Boult's delivery. Henry then returned and engulfed KL Rahul (1), who was also caught behind.

Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik then tried to knit an effective partnership but New Zealand piled on the misery as Jimmy Neesham caught a brilliant catch in the gully to see off Karthik (6) off Henry.

Pant did find some support in Hardik Pandya as the duo formed a 47-run stand for the fifth wicket.

After their departure, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja rebuilt India's innings as the duo added 116 runs.

Jadeja took charge as Dhoni assumed the role of second fiddle. However, Boult tilted the table and again put India under pressure as dismissed Jadeja (77), who played a skier and gave a comfortable catch to Williamson at long-off.

Soon after this, Martin Guptill pulled off a brilliant run out and dismissed Dhoni (50) as India got wrapped up on 221 after 49.3 overs.

Fans on Twitter reflected on that key moment of Dhoni's dismal in the key moment of the match and how that was the last time they got to see the former Team India skipper in action.
