While Team India made sure to grab the series away from the mighty Aussies hands, the young colts also made sure to start the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 on a winning note.

India U19 secured a comfortable 90-run victory against Sri Lanka U19.

Sri Lankan captain Nipun Dananjaya decided to field first after winning the toss.

Defending champions India got a good start with 66 runs opening partnership between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyaansh Saxena.

The second-wicket partnership was for 46 runs (Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Verma) and all the next three partnerships crossed the 50-run mark (partnerships were for 59, 63 and 63*).

Saxena scored 23 while Jaiswal scored 59 runs. Tilak Verma scored 46 runs and middle-order batsmen, captain Priyam Garg (56 runs) and the wicketkeeper-batsman Dhruv Jurel (52 not out) both hit half-centuries.

Siddesh Veer (44 not out off 27 balls) also played a crucial knock in the end as India U19 managed the first innings total of 297/4 (50 overs).

In reply, Lankan opener Kamil Mishara, Ravindu Rasantha and captain Nipun Dananjaya managed to cross the 20-run mark.

While Mishara scored 39 runs and Rasantha scored 49 runs, Sri Lankan youth skipper (50) played a half-century knock.

Apart from the 87 runs partnership, Sri Lanka U19 lost their wickets in regular intervals as they were bowled out on 207 runs (45.2 overs).

Indian bowlers Akash Singh (2/29), Siddesh Veer (2/34) and Ravi Bishnoi (2/44) bagged two wickets each. Siddesh Veer won the Player of the Match award for his all-round performances.
