While interacting with the media on the occasion, Zareen Khan shared her experience when she was a plus sized teenager. She said, "I have been in plus size when I was in school and college and as a growing up girl it's very important to wear the right lingerie, especially when you're growing up -- when you're becoming a woman. As a plus sized girl I did not really have a lot of option as much as the thinner girls have or the not plus sized girls have."

Zareen went on, "It really felt bad as I don't know why the plus sized people are always taken as the odd one out and not really a lot of focus is given on them, whether clothes or lingerie. I am here to support this cause that they're celebrating plus sized women and since I have been plus sized when I was a teenager, I'm all here for support."

When mentioned how confident the plus-sized women were on the runway, Zareen said, "Confident kyu nahi lage? Mujhe yeh samajh mein nahi aata ke agar koi insaan plus sized hai toh log use ajeeb nazron se kyun dekhte hain? Bhai hai toh insaan hi."

She added, "I think it's the society that makes these plus sized people feel inferior and bad about themselves but aaj in ladkiyon ki ramp walk karte hue dekh ke mujhe itna achha laga kyuki I don't think this kind of confidence even I had when I was a teenager. So hats off to their confidence and more power to them."

When Zareen was asked if she feels any pressure to be fit being a part of the industry, she went on to say, "I don't know about industry pressure but I try to be fit. Main fit rehna isliye pasand karti hoon kyunki main fitness ko apna lifestyle bana chuki hoon."

She added that in her family, looking at her mother and other women who get stuck with the typical Indian mentality that now that they're married and have kids they think why do they have to become fit? She said it's not for their family or for their husband but for themselves that one should be fit. It shouldn't be that if one is in the industry so they have the pressure of being fit. The only pressure that one should have is of them wanting to be fit for their own selves. So they should be fit so that their body doesn't fall prey to a number of diseases.
