Wednesday saw three legal cases related to the late Jiah Khan being heard; at the City Civil Court, the Sessions Court and the High Court. The Nishabd actress reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her bedroom on June 3, 2013. Her note apparently blamed Sooraj Pancholi, and consequently, he was charged with abetment of suicide. The principal judge in the City Civil Court is hearing CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) application to move the case from the regular court to the special CBI court. This matter will be heard on December 4.

The Sessions Court had summoned the CBI and Police officers to explain where were the crucial evidences like ligature and the CCTV footage of the deceased in the building and why they are not a part of the submission list. The CBI reportedly informed the judge that the Police stated they have submitted the ligature to the court.

Apparently, the CBI didn’t collect them from the Police to investigate as the others submitted were collected and CBI did not exhibit the ligature to the doctors to get the final cause of death report. It is also being said that no DNA report of the ligature was done by Police or CBI.

The court directed the CBI to collect CCTV footage from Gandhi Nagar forensic lab with the report and submit it at the earliest. Calling the directive as routine, our source present during the proceedings, tells us, “The court is making sure that all the evidence and reports are submitted so the hearing can begin.” The court has posted the matter for December 12.

At the Bombay HC, Sooraj’s lawyers have filed a writ petition to expedite the trial. Our source says, “Sooraj’s lawyer had asked for six months, but the court countered, ‘Why six months?’ The honourable court stated that trial could happen in two months. This case will now be heard on December 7.”

More often than not, Akshay Kumar’s busy schedule sees him travelling for work whenever his film is releasing. It’s no different even as 2.0, his latest outing, helmed by S Shankar and starring Rajinikanth, opened in cinemas yesterday. The Bollywood superstar had to fly off to Bangkok to attend a friend’s wedding. Akki had committed in advance to his buddy that he’d be there for his big day and he kept his word. Post the dost’s shaadi ceremonies over the long weekend, the actor is slated to return on Monday.

Other guests, who also arrived for the wedding, include TV presenter Anusha Dandekar with beau Karan Kundra and choreographer Ganesh Hegde, who is also said to be choreographing the sangeet that will be held later this evening. The couple had an elaborate mehendi ceremony last night, with close friends and family in attendance. Following that, the families had a quiet dinner with Rajasthani delicacies served for them. Tomorrow evening, a special cocktail party has been organised for guests where Sanam band will perform. The couple will tie the knot a day later, on December 2.
