Being the child of a celebrity isn't always the best (just ask Christina Crawford). But being the child of a celebrity and wanting to pursue the same field is even more daunting. Suddenly, you have even more attention on you before. All you can hear is people whispering "Is she really good enough?" or "He can't be as good as his father." or "Spoiled kids always get what they want." But it doesn't have to be like that, because, usually, talent does end up running in the family. And quite often, many of these 'star kids' as we say end up beating the odds and becoming pretty spectacular in their own right. Here are 7 children of Bollywood celebrities, from Suhana Khan and Alia Bhatt, to Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff, who had to endure the 'nepotism' speech, only to come out on top.

1. Alia Bhatt

One of the stars of the film that started the entire debate, Student of the Year, Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter came on to the scene with a lot of skepticism. Most people believed that she’d fizzle out pretty quickly. But OH, were they wrong. Not only was her performance in her debut role perfectly in-character, but her future roles in movies like Highway, Udta Punjab and Raazi cemented her as one of Bollywood’s most talented actresses, with many Best Actress awards to her name.

2. Varun Dhawan

One of Alia’s co-stars in Student of the Year, he charmed everyone with his boyish good looks and effortless appeal, the way only David Dhawan’s son could. He went on to play intense characters in movies like October and Badlapur, and even other lighter roles in Main Tera Hero and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and has become a serious Bollywood A-lister.

3. Tiger Shroff

Jackie Shroff’s son wasn’t given much attention when his debut, Heropanti, landed. However, the film was a decent success and Tiger was noticed. Now, the Baaghi actor has successfully graduated from the baby-face days of his debut to one of Bollywood’s hottest hunks with a killer Instagram, an even more killer acting career and amazing dancing, for which, quite frankly, he doesn’t get the credit he should. In fact, even his SOTY 2 co-star, Ananya Pandey (Chunky Pandey’s daughter), is a star kid ready to show her chops.

4. Ishaan Khatter

The son of actors Rajesh Khattar and Neelima Azeem and Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother has managed to shed the long family line-up that used to come attached with his name to become a veritable new entry into the mainstream Bollywood world with his recent debut, Dhadak, which just crossed the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide.

5. Janhvi Kapoor

Ishaan’s Dhadak co-star, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s daughter, may not have been received as kindly by the critics for her performance. However, there is no denying the success of the movie and her own star-power. She is known Bollywood round as one of the nicest celebrities, and that, with the right role selection, could get you far.

6. Suhana Khan

You can’t get any bigger than being the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan. The already christened ‘Princess Khan’ recently made a splash with her debut on the cover of Vogue. While she did receive criticism over it, she also made designers and fashionistas world over take notice and say “Who is this pretty girl?” Mark your calendars, we just might be witnessing the birth of a star.

7. Sara Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter might be killing it with her fashion, most recently at Manish Malhotra’s fashion show, but it’s too early to deliver a verdict on her. She’s currently gearing up for her debut film opposite Sushant Singh Rajput, Kedarnath, and has another film, Simmba, lined up opposite Ranveer Singh. Till the point her film actually drops, there’s no way of telling how big of an impact she actually will make.
