The well-acclaimed Bollywood actor Tabu turns 50-year-old today. With her performances, Tabu has proven to be an actor with mettle. From 'Chandni Bar' to 'AndhaDhun' and now, 'A Suitable Boy', Tabu has always given her fans something new to ponder upon.

The actress' own life, however, remains one big mystery. Tabu, known to rarely give interviews, has never opened up about her personal life, likes, dislikes and relations with family.

Did you know that the actress has one pet name which is also called Toblerone? No, really. Many would not even know the Tabu that was. When Tabassum Hashmi (her real name) entered the film industry, she delivered a sequence of flop films.

Tabu is a stage from Tabassum Hashmi. She was born on November 4, 1971 in Kolkta. Tabu's parents had divorced when she was a child and she grew up with her mother, Rizwana. On the sets, she is called Tabs, Tubs, Tubby, Tobler and even Toblerone!

In 1994, after Vijaypath, the actress was taken seriously. She then gave her numerous hits and became the actress she is today.
