Now, CBSE schools will keep health records of each student

Now students will have to shine in the health book of their school to obtain high scores in academics. As per the recent directives of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), its affiliated schools will have to keep the health record of each and every student of all the classes.

CBSE has asked the schools to verify the immunisation record of students which will contain all the details about the student’s health including the ailments, allergies and their immunity at large. This health record will reflect in their assessment.

“In view of checking the spread of communicable diseases and improving the immunity of students in society, CBSE has given these directions to us. This health record will also play a role in the assessment of the child through Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE).

The student will have to maintain accurate Body Mass Index (BMI) and will have to take healthy meals and proper diet to score well in his health book. Since it will affect the academic performance, the endeavor of both parents and students will be to eat healthy and stay fit,” said ILVA School Principal Sanjay Mishra.

“Secondly, the child’s medical history should be available with the school in case of an emergency,” he added. The board has also provided a format to schools for verifying and maintaining the health records conveniently. It has also cautioned schools against conducting external medical examinations or referral without the parents’ knowledge.

“It is one of the best initiatives of the board. Life is so fast that health is always neglected. This will keep the kids healthy,” said parent Bharati Jain.
