Imran Khan wants all Pakistanis to stand for 30 minutes every Friday to ‘show solidarity with Kashmir’
The more Imran Khan speaks, the more it becomes clear why his vehement critics caricature him as 'Im the Dim'.
Khan has been raging against India since the Modi government abrogated Article 370 and on Monday, while taking a break from predicting a nuclear winter, Khan urged all Pakistanis to stand for 30 minutes between 12 and 12:30 to ‘show solidarity with Kashmiris’.
One Twitter user wondered how hitting Pakistan’s productivity could benefit Kashmiris, while another wondered if it was for morning or night.
Another user apprehensively worried about Imran’s promised speech at UNGA, whilst another wrote: “Why should our PM be allowed to do comedy at the expense of Kashmiris anyway?”
Another Twitter denizen wondered: “Is this to continue till Kashmir banega Pakistan or only till the UNGA? Please please please ask him to make this a daily programme and for one hour for eternity. That will be a true measure of pak commitment to J&K. “

After ruining the Kashmir cause with their counterproductive militarism, Pakistan to ruin its own national productivity for 30 minutes every week! Bravo Bajwa-Imran regime https://t.co/4CdOV6Jj6v

Hello @ImranKhanPTI, standing with someone or standing up for someone are metaphors. You, on the other hand, are asking Pakistanis to physically stand for 30 minutes every Friday. It’s not the same thing.

1. Mahindra mocks Khan
On Sunday, businessman Anand Mahindra couldn't resist a light-hearted dig at Imran Khan and shared an old video of the Pak PM where he enthusiastically states that WW II Axis powers Japan and Germany shared a border!
The remarks were made by Khan at a join presser with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani where he spoke in great detail about border of Germany and Japan.
In the video he said: “The more trade you have with each other, your ties automatically become stronger. Germany and Japan killed millions of their civilians until after the Second World War they decided that...on the border, on the border region of Germany and Japan, to have joint industries."

Mr Khan, despite his Oxford education, has been bestowed the moniker ‘Im the Dim’ by critics for his gaffe-prone ways and by those who doubt his intellectual capacity.
Confusing basic geography, like thinking Japan and Germany share a border, or quoting Ayn Rand like a teenage Marxist hasn’t helped his cause. He was also in the news recently after it emerged that most students who appeared in Class IX exams from his constituency had failed, which made one Twitter user wonder if ‘Im’s dimness was contagious’.
2. No third-party mediation says Modi and Trump
With US President Donald Trump by his side, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday ruled out any third-party mediation on the Kashmir matter, saying it's a bilateral issue with Pakistan and that the two countries can resolve all issues.
Trump also appeared to agree with him when he said the two countries "will do something good."
"All issues between India and Pakistan are bilateral. We do not want to bother any other country for these issues. And I believe that India and Pakistan, which were one nation before 1947, we will resolve all issues and can find solutions to it," Modi told the media ahead of his talks with Trump on the sidelines of the G-7 summit.
The two leaders had 40-minute meeting after their remarks to the media and it was principally focused on the issues of trade and energy.
3. Trump-Modi talk
The two leaders agreed that preferably before the Prime Minister's visit to Washington next month, there will be an interaction between the trade ministers during which they will discuss the whole range of trade issues.
Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale told the media later that the two leaders had a "very warm meeting, a very positive meeting".
He said it was the third meeting or conversation between the two leaders in the past 100 days.
In his remarks ahead of the meeting, Modi said there are many bilateral issues between India and Pakistan.
"And after Imran Khan became the Prime Minister of Pakistan, I called him up to congratulate him and told him that Pakistan and India need to fight together many issues like diseases, illiteracy, poverty and let us work together for the welfare of our country. We keep talking about the various bilateral issues between each other," Modi said watched by Trump and the officials of the two delegations.
