1. Onion

This look is all about layering, using scarves, jackets, and open shirts to achieve a more voluminous silhouette. Hollywood actress Blake Lively has clearly mastered this one and knows how to work it. Designer Nachiket Barve says the onion silhouette works on most body types. You can dress up or down and play with proportions.

2. Clingfilm

This form-fitted silhouette is a big hit with the Kardashians and has also been spotted on Bella Hadid. Nachiket believes this look has to be done with a great sense of control. Deepika Padukone is known to nail this one. He adds, “If you are too short, it does not work and is best suited for a chic lunch.” Clingfilm is not for all occasions. Designer Pria Kataaria Puri opines. “It’s seen as sportswear or leisurewear look.”

3. Jellyfish

It creates volume around the arms and shoulders with a minimal look at the hips and legs. Celebs like singers Katy Perry and Lady Gaga have been favoured it. According to designer Nachiket Barve, this suits an athletic or an apple-shaped body type. It gives you a power-shoulder effect. He cautions, “If you are broad on the hips, this is not for you. Simple hair and make-up goes best with this look as the volume on the shoulders and arms become the hero of the look.” Pria Kataaria Puri feels this is an extremely wearable winter look. She adds, “It’s easy to wear and to sport voluminous shoulders in the form of jackets, boleros, corsages on the shoulder, puffed sleeves and even ostrich-feathered heavy shoulders.”

4. Lampshade

The lampshade is the opposite of the jellyfish silhouette. It’s about creating volume around the legs. Fans of cape dresses and jackets generally sport this look. Hollywood actress Natalie Portman has sported it. Pria says, “Lampshade is another wearable winter trend which is popular with women as any body type can carry it off. Women, who are top heavy, can easily sport it as it covers the upper body and arms and yet looks very attractive.”

5. Hulk

The Hulk, like the superhero it’s named after, is about an oversized shape. Singer Rita Ora is a fan of the look. Nachiket believes this look has great fashion potential, but one has to be careful. He says, “Not everyone can carry it off. If it’s ill-fitting, it will draw criticism.” Pria adds, “Women who are tiny and petite may look interesting in this trend, but it’s not something that can be put together on a regular basis. It’s not practical to wear. Big-bodied women won’t be able to carry it off, but it helps to make a statement.”
