A book written by Comptroller and Auditor General of India Rajiv Mehrishi was launched on Monday by chief minister Vasundhara Raje at her official residence in Jaipur
The book titled India 2017 is an all encompassing book on the various aspects and nuances of India, world, general knowledge and recent happenings is available in hard copy and digital format too.
The next edition of the book titled India 2018 will be out by the beginning of the next year.
Speaking on the occasion, Raje said that book was an excellent compilation of information and a must have for all bookshelves. She said Mehrishi has a knack of doing a job well and the book lived up to his style.
Mehrishi who has been the chief secretary of Rajasthan too spoke warmly of Raje and said that she had played a vital role in several important moments of his life.
Speaking to DNA Mehrishi said:
It is about all information that an informed person needs to have in today’s times. It covers large number of subjects that are necessary for those who are preparing for civil services exams, bank exams, state level exams and other exams. It is a good informative read for those in foreign missions and for libraries.
It is in four parts part one which is almost half of the book is about India. It contains information about Indian polity, geography, demography and constitution system. Part two is general knowledge about India and the world. Part three covers current affairs of India and major international issues. While part four covers subjects that an aware person must know; like environment, blue economy and others.
Interspersed by articles by eminent persons like Arvind Panagariya, Rajiv Kumar, Ila Patnaik and Vasundhara Raje to name a few.
I have used my experience to put together information and material that is necessary for general awareness. It goes beyond the routine, for example, the section on India also has information on its music, poetry and theatre. It is an introduction to India.
We have received the letter it will be examined on merit.
I am too new on the job to comment what CAG should be doing or not doing. The basic mandate of the CAG is to ensure that the public money is well spent and accounted for For specific issue of PPP I have no comment.
I have not seen the report. I cannot comment.
Srinath Ji is revered by my family from both sides for last several generations. As a consequence that is the only temple that I go to regularly. You need the lord’s blessings to be on the right path.
The idea in any job is to do qualitative improvement to what has been done in the past. Government is a system of continuous work. Whoever is in-charge tries to make improvement. I try to improve systems where ever I am.
