Karan-Yash: Only 'khushi', no 'gham'

Karan Johar put to rest all rumours of a rift with Yash Chopra when he touched the senior film-maker’s feet to seek his blessings at an event on Wednesday night.

Recently there were reports that Yash Raj Films had a disagreement with Karan over distribution issues of the latter’s films. Karan then sold the rights of two of his films to UTV.

However, this show of respect by Karan showed that the duo might have parted ways in the professional sphere, but in the personal space they still share a great relationship with each other.

“Yash Chopra’s presence at a special screening of Karan Johar’s movie sends a very significant message that personally all is well between them. It (selling rights of two of his films to UTV) was purely a business proposition for Karan and we should not look at reading between the lines,” said a source.

Previously Yash Raj Films was the sole distributor of Karan’s movies. However, a few months ago Yash Raj offered Karan a certain price for the distribution rights for one of his movies, which Karan was not happy with. He, then went ahead and tied-up with UTV for two of his movies.

The source added, “Karan has grown with the Yash Raj family. Nothing will change their personal equation. He loves and respects Yash Chopra and he’s close to Adi (Aditya Chopra). Things are fine.”
