Born in a Marathi-speaking family, the actress is quite an idol, being married to a South Indian (Telugu) superstar and becoming famous there.
Namrata probably got her genes from her grandmother alias Brahmachari actress Meenakshi Shirodkar, who was the first actress to dress up in a swimsuit to depict Lord Krishna bathing in Yamuna river. She is also the sister of actress Shilpa Shirodkar, who appeared in movies like Kishen Kanhaiya, Khuda Gawah and Hum.
