India vs West Indies 1st Test: Hosts cruise towards massive win, here's what happened on Day 2

Here are highlights from Day 2 of the first Test between India and West Indies.

Ravindra Jadeja ended a long wait for maiden Test ton as India declared after putting up a mammoth 649 for nine at tea on day two of the series opener in Rajkot.

Jadeja struck an unbeaten 100 off 132 off balls as India extended their domination with the bat against a struggling West Indies.

In reply, West Indies proved to be no match with the bat too. They were reduced to 94/6 in 29 overs at stumps on Day 2.

Indian duo of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were at the crease when India ended Day 1 of the first Test against West Indies at 364 for 4 at Rajkot on Thursday. In the third over of the day, Virat Kohli entered the 3,000-club at home in terms of Test runs. He is the joint-fastest to reach this mark with Cheteshwar Pujara (in 53 innings). Overall, Kohli and Pujara are the fourth fastest to 3,000 runs in home Tests after Don Bradman (37 innings), Javed Miandad/ Steve Smith (49 innings) and Gary Sobers/ M Yousuf/ Matthew Hayden (51 innings). Indian Skipper Virat Kohli scored his 24th Test hundred on Friday on day 2 of India vs West Indies 1st Test at Rajkot. En route his milestone, he made and broke a few records - he was the second fastest to reach the 24th mark, in 123 innings after Don Bradman, who needed just 66 innings. Kohli (17) now has third most number of Test centuries as captain behind Graeme Smith (25) and Ricky Ponting (19). PC: AFP

Kohli was on 67 when Pant scored his first run. But, when Kohli reached the triple-digit figures, Pant already had 87 runs to his name and was himself aiming for a hundred. However, the excellent innings of utmost domination of Pant ended when he failed to read a googly from Bishoo, the same bowler who had earlier dismissed the other youngster of the team, Prithvi Shaw. Kohli, who played near flawless innings and looked to aim at a second double hundred against these opponents, was dismissed for 139 runs off 230 balls. His knock was included of 10 boundaries at a decent strike-rate of 60.43. Also, dismissing the World No. 1 batsman made West Indian fast bowler Sherman Lewis’ debut even more memorable. He waits for a few seconds before he breaks into his trademark 'sword celebration.' Umesh Yadav comes to him laughing acknowledging his effort. The match is underway in Rajkot, Jadeja's home ground and the crowd goes crazy watching Jadeja take on the bowlers in style. West Indies' key batsman Shai Hope gets beaten by outside edge and bowled off Ashwin's bowling. The next wicket turned out to be a frustrating affair for the tourists, while it was hilarious for Kohli and his boys. Hetmyer whips the ball to the mid-on and Ambris charges down for a single. Hetmyer changes his mind and begins running back but comes second. Yes, both the batsmen Hetmyer and Ambris end at the same side. Jadeja meanwhile in a delightful mood is jogging to the wicket in his own amusement and is clearly enjoying the entire scene, his smile says it all. Scared of this backfiring terribly, his teammates had to yell at him so that he doesn't miss the runout's chance.
