When Team India announced their squad for the ODI series against England, many news names made it to the list. One being Prasidh Krishna.

The pacer who earned him a spot in India's 18-member ODI squad is the only relatively unknown player. Now his dream has come true as he along with Krunal Pandya received their caps and made their debut for India. For Prasidh, it was bowling coach Bharat Arun from whom he received his cap.

As for the top four, they are Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. Hardik Pandya and Krunal at 6 and 7 while Shardul Thakur will come in at 8 followed by Bhuvi at 9, Prasidh and Kuldeep later.

While the now 25-year-old has played 48 List A games for Karnataka, he has, however, played only 9 first-class matches due to injuries and team dynamics.

The lad has also been a regular member of the playing XI for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), ESPN Cricinfo reported.

Krishna's senior competitive cricket - when he was still a teenager - came when he played for Karnataka against the touring Bangladesh A side in 2015.

He grabbed 5 for 49, and his wickets included Anamul Haque, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das and Nasir Hossain, all of who are now Bangladesh internationals.

Krishna's performance ensured he remained in the reckoning, but even before that, he had been a net bowler for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Krishna - in domestic cricket - had made his List A debut against Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2016-17. He had got 13 wickets - the most for Karnataka - at an average and economy of 16.61 and 3.82, respectively.

He topped the team table the following season as well with 17 wickets at 16.52 while being the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament.

Krishna soon after attracted enough attention of IPL scouts. An injury to Kamlesh Nagarkoti opened the door for the pacer. That same season, he had put on a match-winning performance of 3 for 37 in the Vijay Hazare final against Saurashtra.

Krishna, after being picked up by Knight Riders in 2018, had made his IPL debut that same season. He picked up ten wickets in seven games, but at a high economy rate.

Though he had a forgettable tournament in 2019 after playing 11 games, Krishna's pace and improved control meant he remained with the Knight Riders for the UAE edition as well.

The year 2018 proved to be a turning point. Krishna was picked in India A squad for the tri-series against England A and West Indies A.

He was also added to the quadrangular one-day series involving India A, India B, Australia A and South Africa A squad.

Not only did his side - India B - won the series, Krishna too picked up eight wickets at 21.50, including 4 for 49 against South Africa A and 4 for 50 against India A.

In that last match, his victims were Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer, who are now his India team-mates.

In February 2020, Krishna had earned praises from Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper had described Krishna as a potential "X-factor" in India's squad.
