The nation celebrates the 550th birth anniversary of the first guru of Sikhism, Guru Nanak Dev.
The founder of Sikhism was born on April 15, 1469, in Rai-Bhoi-di Talwandi in the present Sheikhupura District of Pakistan, now Nankana Sahib.
This festival is one of the most revered and auspicious ones for followers of Sikhism. Celebrated for three days and two days before the occasion, the Guru Granth Sahib is read continuously for 48 hours.
On this auspicious occasion, the Indian cricket fraternity too went on Twitter to wish their followers a Happy Guru Nanak Gurpurab.
