Bengaluru's Ramesh Babu might be a record-holder of sorts. He is the owner of what is probably the biggest collection of luxury cars in India. Creating an enormous amount of wealth after starting out a hair salon, he is today the owner of around 600 luxury cars, in a fleet that includes automakers like Rolls Royce, Mercedes Maybach, Range Rovers and Bentleys.

1. Ramesh Babu’s Rags to Riches story

Losing his barber father as a 7-year-old, Babu’s family hit financial crisis. His mother loaned out his father’s salon to an uncle for a meagre sum while he contributed through odd jobs including as a newspaper boy. He then started running the salon business in the 1990s. The business flourished and his clients soon included various celebrities and politicians.
2. Babu’s first luxury buy

With money saved up, Ramesh Babu started a car rental and self-drive venture called Ramesh Tours and Travels. After starting small, he bought his first luxury car, a Mercedes E Class sedan. His firm was among the pioneers in the city in providing luxury rides for VIPs.
3. Rolls Royce to Bentleys

Not looking back, Babu went from strength to strength, buying vehicles like the Rolls Royce Ghost cars worth Rs 3 crore, as well as other vehicles like BMWs, Jaguars and Bentley luxury sedans.
4. Mercedes Maybach S600

In 2017, it was reported that Babu had purchased a Rs 2.6 crore Maybach S600. Ramesh Babu's company, with his 600-strong fleet of cars, generates employment for around 300 people.
5. World famous clients

As per Babu, celebrities who have used his car service include famous actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Aamir Khan and sports stars like Sachin Tendulkar. His company also has branches in Delhi and Chennai.
