Part II: How to purify your past to brighten the future
Ganesh festival

Creating a model is a technique that provides a place to build impressions required to make changes in our life. Therefore we use organic elements, earth and water, which are also the two main supporting elements of the human body. As explained earlier, we have already worked on these two elements during the Ganesh festival. We have put all our desires, services, and family and community values, expressed our love and concentrated them on the idol of Shree Ganesh. For the ritual to work properly, the idol should be made from earth that is along a river or water body so that it has been washed and purified continuously and is also exposed to sunlight and air.

The purification, movement, sunlight and air increases the possibility that the earth can hold and accept vibrations. After being made, the praanic force should be invited into it. Thus, we can communicate with it. It should not be made of dense material like metal or wood which will not easily dissolve. Only then can it be properly discharged in water, where earth and water completely go back to their elements. Modern science has been helping to validate all these ancient ideas over the years. It is now accepted that water is able to store energies and patterns from the surroundings. It is even affected by culture or a large event and store a representation of it in its own structure. So when the cultured idol is dissolved it will take your memory vibrations from Ganesh as well as the principle and praan energy of Ganesh. Through the water cycle, evaporation and coming back to earth, it will relay the vibrations across the whole cosmos releasing those programs. They are now everywhere and wherever you wish to tune into them, they can communicate and work for you.

Now, what we need is a process of continuously encouraging restructuring and capacity or strength-building in our brains. Only then can programs be rearranged. Even though DNA holds our programs, they are loaded for execution by the brain. It works like a computer for these programs. Thus, Shree Ganesh is also understood like this computer. We have to work with Him first to begin any work successfully, like a computer needs to be the right specification if we want to use certain programs on it. These concepts are being revived in people’s consciousness once again, for that is the need of our times.

There are some mantras and musical compositions that are able to aid the restructuring process of the brain and make the brain free of false patterns. They free up the brain for it to be able to hold positive or desired programs. The rituals around Shree Ganesh – which perfume, what flowers, which foods – are all part of creating the natural conditions for working well with Him and the principle He is in the Universe. This is true of the rituals for all our deities. They are energy principles that we have to naturally invigorate. Shree Ganesh at the beginning, and then each deity has his or her function, time and place of importance.

Ananta Chaturdashi, when we discharge the Ganesh idol in water, is immediately followed by Pitrupaksha. Again, we continue to use the ‘modeling’ technique to work on the program and frequencies of our ancestors where we express our gratitude, respect, love and willingness to help them get rid of unfulfilled desires by helping other people or charity. These are all well thought out and properly designed. Maybe it is enough to remember the ancestors and place a lamp in front of their picture. Or honour the picture with a garland, distribute food in their name or some more advanced rituals, called a Shraddha. The elaborate ritual is a technique to attract the programs of the ancestors and communicate and satisfy them, so blocks that are sometimes caused by these programs can be released to bring positive results in our lives.

So in these last few days, we have expressed, positive desires for ourselves and the world and discharged those vibrations into the cosmos, and now we follow the Pitrupaksha rituals to communicate with ancestral programs that may be in the way of our desired futures. We honour them, and work on their programs in order to make ourselves increasingly positive so that we can perform better karmas.
