India will win Asia Cup...but it's bad news for Dhoni and company

As a captain, Dhoni won the Indian Premier League in 2010 and 2011, the Champions Trophy in 2013 and the Champions League in 2014. But he has recently lost other big tournaments like the 2014 World T20 and 2015 World Cup as well.

You really don't need an astrologer to predict who will win the final of the Asia Cup, do you? Everyone knows that, at the most, India might be stretched a bit by Bangladesh. Unless there's a miracle, MS Dhoni & Co. should go on to win their sixth Asia Cup.

However, winning the Asia Cup may actually not augur well for India. The astrological reason is: a captain would win less significant tournaments when he is going through his 'tough' times. The highest point of achievement for Dhoni was winning the 2011 World Cup. He may never be able to match that peak once again. He can win smaller tournaments but the biggest glory of the game – the World Cup in any format – would elude him.

As a captain, Dhoni won the Indian Premier League in 2010 and 2011, the Champions Trophy in 2013 and the Champions League in 2014. But he has recently lost other big tournaments like the 2014 World T20 and 2015 World Cup as well.

Thus, it's bad news if India win the Asia Cup, as it only suggests that India's chances under Dhoni in lifting the 2016 World T20 goes down.
