Asian Games 2018 Day 9 Updates: Neeraj Chopra wins India's 8th gold, athletes add three silvers

INDIA WIN! 

India beat Japan 3-1 in the quarter-final of the men's team event. They are assured of first ever Asian Games medal. Sathiyan wrapped it up with a 3-1 win over world No 19 Kenta Matsudaira. This is huge for Indian table tennis.

Neeraj Chopra wins India’s second gold medal in athletics and 8th overall with a new national record of 88.06m. He registered throws of 83.46m, 83.25m and 86.36m- all his attempts were better than the second placed Liu Qizhen.

India beat Iran 3-0 in their 1st pool match.

They will take on Thailand in their 2nd tie on Tuesday.

India defeat Thailand 5-0 in their final pool match. With this win, the Indians qualify for the semis and are yet to lose a game this Asian Games.

From four matches - Indian women have scored 38 goals. 

Their semis clash will be on August 29 (Wednesday)

India beat Indonesia 3-0 in their 1st pool match. They will take on Singapore later in the day on Monday.

Badminton - Women's singles semi-final

PV Sindhu defeats World No. 2 Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 15-21, 21-10, becomes first Indian female shuttler to reach the final of badminton's individual event at the Asian Games. 

She will face the unstoppable World No. 1 Tai Tzu, who defeated India's Saina Nehwal in straight sets in the last-4 event sometime back on Monday.
