New Partnership Opening La Tagliatella Italian Restaurants in Shanghai, China

Fastest growing European casual dining brand to fill demand for new culinary options in China's largest, most vibrant city

SHANGHAI, May 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- AmRest HK Limited, a HK Company, will open two La Tagliatella Italian restaurants this summer in the Center City district of Shanghai, whose 23 million residents have a growing demand for unique dining experiences.  The two La Tagliatella restaurants are the first outside of Europe for the brand, and they bring a little Old World flavor to a fast-growing business center.  Along with the traditional Italian name, the restaurants will be branded for the Chinese market as Chun Yi Tang – Pure Italian Heaven.

AmRest HK Limited is a joint venture between AmRest Holding SE (WSE: EAT), an international fast-food and casual dining restaurant operator with nearly 700 restaurants in Europe, Asia, and the United States, and Stubb's Asia Limited, a partnership led by Greg Walther, whose extensive restaurant background includes serving as senior vice president and president of international operations for Brinker International Inc.

"We are excited to develop these restaurants and look forward to introducing Shanghai to a dining concept that has been extremely successful in Europe," said Walther.  "La Tagliatella will deliver a unique experience and expand the dining options for Shanghai residents interested in high-quality Italian food at casual dining prices."

La Tagliatella serves Northern Italian cuisine in a classic Italian setting. Using premium ingredients and authentic recipes from the regions of Liguria, Piamonte and Reggio Emilia, La Tagliatella will serve Shanghai diners the best of Italy's food and wine at an affordable price.

There are more than 135 La Tagliatella restaurants throughout Spain, France, and Andorra.  In 2009, La Tagliatella received the European Foodservice Summit Concept Award, one of the most prestigious catering prizes in Europe.  The exact opening date will be announced soon.

"Whether it is just a legend that Marco Polo discovered pasta during his travels in China, we do know that La Tagliatella will bring some of the tastiest, most authentic Italian food available back to China, and expect the brand to have the same rapid growth here that it has in Europe," added Walther.

AmRest HK Limited, which is seeking locations for additional sites in China, will announce additional details nearer the grand opening.  For more information, visit www.AmRestChina.com.
