The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday attacked the Congress over posters featuring Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra who is slated to appear before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case.

Posters of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her husband Robert Vadra, calling for party's victory in the upcoming general election, were put up outside the party headquarters in New Delhi's Akbar Road late on Tuesday. The posters were, however, removed a few hours later on Wednesday.

While the Congress did not give a reason on why it removed the posters, a party leader outside the headquarters blamed the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government at the Centre.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said the posters featured "two criminals."

"Posters of two criminals have been put in front of Congress office. Both of them are out on bail - criminal no.1 Rahul Gandhi in connection with National Herald case and criminal no.2 Robert Vadra who has to appear before ED today in connection with money laundering case," Patra said.

Vadra is expected to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday in connection with a money laundering case relating to alleged possession of illegal foreign assets, official sources said Tuesday. A Delhi court last week granted interim bail to him till February 16 and asked him to join probe by appearing in person on February 6 in this case.

"Unfortunate for Mr Modi that he has a wife but does not appear with her in posters. Robert Vadra is Priyanka's husband, I wish to God that their relationship remains like this. His name is being dragged in so many matters but BJP has no proof against him," Congress leader Sanjay Sinh said.
