The costliest public toilet of the city will be opened at Marine Drive on October 1. The toilet has been constructed under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and it will be maintained and run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Constructed at a cost of Rs 94 lakh, the five-seat toilet structure is believed to be costliest in the city. According to a civic official, it has been set up opposite the Air India office along Marine Drive.

At present, there is no public toilet from Princess Street to National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) and this toilet will be of great help to all, apart from joggers and cyclists.

Of the five seats in the toilet, two are for women. The toilet will require minimal water as it will work on vacuum. "This is the first vacuum toilet in the city and it will have solar panels on its roof," said another civic official. He added that power generated from the solar panel will be used for the illuminating the structure.
