Misuse of social media, govt should take strict action: Celebs on 'hateful' TikTok video on Tabrez lynching

The video made by a few influential Tik Tok users was criticised for creating hatred and animosity.

Reacting on a 'hateful' TikTok video put out by a group which goes by name 'Team 07' on the lynching of Tabrez Ansari in Jharkhand, celebrities have now called for a strict punishment against the video makers.

'Team 07' a group on famous video app TikTok had put out an inciting video on Tabrez Ansari's lynching following which a Shiv Sena activist had lodged a complaint against them.

The video was uploaded on the social media app Tiktok by the influencers Faisu, Hasnain, Faiz and Sadhan (Saddu). In two videos the whole gang was seen enacting a message that says, "Innocent Tabrez was killed, but if Tabrez's son grows up and takes revenge then Muslims shouldn't be termed as terrorists."

However, after the matter was highlighted, TikTok user named 'mr faisu 07', a member of Team 07 and a renowned TikTok star took to his Instagram and tendered an apology.

Meanwhile, certain celebrities have also spoken up on the incident.

The uploaders were criticised for creating hatred and animosity through their video, and some Twitterati even went on to call their actions criminal. There were many others who asked the Police to take action. 

The matter came to light after Shiv Sena IT Cell core committee member Ramesh Solanki filed a complaint against the group LT Marg Police station in Mumbai too. The video was then pulled out from Tik Tok and their accounts were non-verified due to the action by the group.

Celebrities Gajendra Chauhan and Ashoke Pandit spoke in unanimity that strict action should be taken against these 'so-called celebrities' for misusing social media. They also asserted that it would set an example for the future generations to come so as not to repeat such a mistake.

Talking about the incident, Gajendra Chauhan told Sonal Singh from Zee News, "Their profiles should be deleted with immediate effect. The government should make provision for strict punishment. The way social media is being misused is sending wrong messages to the youth. These TikTok 'celebrities' should be investigated thoroughly to send out a message so that in future no such objectionable content pertaining to religion, society or community is released."

"There should be a strict investigation against these boys. The video reflects their thoughts. Their message could promote terrorist activities in the country. Just a warning wouldn't be enough but they should receive punishment of the highest order. TikTok should also delete their accounts. It should raise objections and take immediate action on users' accounts," said Ashoke Pandit.

'Mr Faisu 07', one of the members of the group 'Team 07' which put out the offensive video, has apologised on his Instagram handle. He wrote, "We would like to apologise sincerely if any people have felt hurt by our video. Hamara irada, kisi ka dil dukhana, ya unka apmaan karna, nahi tha. Humne video ko nikaal diya hai.
