After making a thundering debut with 'Kedarnath', Sara Ali Khan has hit the bull's eye again with 'Simmba'. Both her films are running simultaneously in cinema halls and have already crossed the coveted Rs 100 Cr mark. In 'Simmba', Sara plays Ranveer's love interest Shagun.

Earlier while speaking about Sara's casting, director Rohit Shetty revealed on 'The Kapil Sharma Show', "She came and begged me for a role in Simmba. Hearing this, I started crying. Imagine, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter begging me for a role. Saif never once asked me to take Sara for Simmba."

'Simmba' raked in a solid Rs 20.72 crore [India] on its opening day, the highest in Ranveer's career. In a year when three of the Khans' offerings - 'Race 3', 'Thugs of Hindostan' and 'Zero' - bit the dust, Ranveer Singh's double hits - 'Padmaavat' and 'Simmba' have only reaffirmed the actor's status as a bankable star.

The film, which is the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster 'Temper', also stars Sonu Sood, Siddharth Jadhav and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal roles. It also sees cameo appearances from Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and the Golmaal team.

Ranveer Singh, who plays corrupt-cop-turned-good-cop in 'Simmba', is thankful to Rohit Shetty for believing that he could pull off the role of Sangram Bhalerao aka Simmba. "I want to thank Rohit Shetty for believing in me and making me his hero. Rohit's vision propelled by the collective effort of his entire team has been the sole reason behind Simmba hitting the bulls eye," Ranveer told news agency IANS.

"I'm extremely grateful to the audience for the love they have showered on my performance and on the film. It is encouraging and truly humbling. It has been an absolutely incredible year for me, and the success of 'Simmba' makes it an ideal way to end the year -- on a huge, huge high," he added.
