On the eve of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 56th birthday, came the good news that all Salman Khan fans had long been waiting to hear. It was announced that 19 years after 'Hum Dil Ke Chuke Sanam', Sanjay Leela Bhansali is now set to reunite with his favourite muse - Salman Khan - for a love story.
Prerna Singh, CEO of Bhansali Productions, confirmed the news and called the collaboration 'the best thing that can happen in terms of story-telling.'
The yet-untitled film will go on floors in the second half of the year sometime around September, right after Salman finishes shooting for 'Dabangg 3', and will be jointly produced by Bhansali and Salman, Mumbai Mirror reported.
"The other members of the cast will be signed soon. The female lead will be an A-lister and they are looking at a 2020 release," a source close to the development revealed to the daily.
Now this brings us to the million-dollar question of who should be cast opposite Salman. Though we would have killed to see Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opposite Salman after all these years, we all know that will never happen considering their history. So, we have safely omitted her from our list.

1. Priyanka Chopra

It's a known fact that Priyanka Chopra was earlier supposed to collaborate with Salman Khan for 'Bharat' but she chose to opt out of the film at the eleventh hour to get married to Nick Jonas. Her loss was Katrina Kaif's gain as she ended up bagging the role. Now that PCee is nicely settled, we believe it's a good time for her to extend the olive branch. Also, considering how close she is to Sanjay, we wouldn't be surprised if she is the first one on his list, too!
2. Anushka Sharma

Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma's previous film 'Sultan' worked wonders at the box office and if everything goes as per plan they might actually reunite for SLB's film. In December last year speculations were rife that Salman had suggested Anushka's name to Bhansali, since they shared an friendly rapport in 2016 blockbuster 'Sultan'.
3. Kareena Kapoor Khan

Last year in an interview with DNA, when asked if there is something that she wants and haven't got it yet, Kareena Kapoor Khan had excitedly said, "Maybe a movie with Sanjay Leela Bhansali (laughs). But for that, Taimur has to be at least 10 years old because I can’t leave him before that. That’s the joke between Sanjay and me that we are star-crossed lovers (smiles)."
For years Kareena was on board to play the lead role of Mastaani in 'Bajirao Mastani' and at that time Salman Khan was to play Bajirao. In fact, they had even shot for the poster in the early 2000s. But, as we all know things didn't fall in place. Later, Kareena was even signed for 'Ram Leela' but she walked out of the film just weeks before the shoot started. Things reportedly turned ugly between Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Kareena Kapoor Khan post that.

Since Deepika has been Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s muse ever since their first outing together ‘Goliyon Ki Raas Leela Ram-Leela’ till their latest blockbuster hit ‘Padmaavat’, her name ought to come.
Last year, Deccan Chronicle had qouted a source saying that SLB has approached Deepika for his next project and that she is likely to take it up unless there's a major schedule conflict. As of now she just has Meghna Gulzar's 'Chhapaak' in her kitty. After having rejected a slew of Salman Khan films, would SLB manage to convince DP to take this up? Well only time will tell.
