In the clash between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Marseille, Neymar was sent off for the second time in his career after coming to blows with Alvaro Gonzalez. The PSG forward accused Gonzalez of racially abusing him in the moments leading up to his clash.

Neymar was given a straight red after VAR saw him strike Gonzalez on the back of the head, but the Brazilian megastar insists that isn’t the whole story.

Andre Villas-Boas' side were leading 1-0 when a brawl ensued in the middle of the pitch. While Dario Benedetto, Leandro Paredes, Layvin Kurzawa, Jordan Amavi were sent by referee Jerome Brisard, Neymar's actions were not seen then.

It was only after the referee consulted with VAR officials that he brandished a red card for the Brazilian megastar, who had slapped Gonzalez on the back of his head.

However, Neymar was heard telling the fourth official that he had been racially abused by Gonzalez. The two were engaged in verbals throughout the game and Neymar reportedly complained of racist abuse earlier in the match.

Nothing came off his claims, but the Brazilian took to Twitter to call for more action. He posted: "The only regret I have is for not being in the face of this a*****e."

Neymar claimed that Gonzalez called him a "monkey m**********r," while demanding more be done in the fight against racism.

Since the clash, netizens have come in support of Neymar as some say they can hear the racist abuse, while some say it was unfair to him get a red card.

Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez - after being accused by Neymar of racist remarks - took to social media to defend himself. Neymar was one of five players to be sent off as Marseille claimed a dramatic 1-0 win.

While Neymar was sent off for slapping Gonzalez in injury-time, he accused the Marseille player of racism as he left the field. After Neymar's social media acquisitions, Gonzalez was quick to also use the platform to defend himself against the comments.

"There is no place for racism. A clean career and with many team-mates and friends on a day to day basis. Sometimes you have to learn how to lose and accept it on the field. Incredible three points today, Allez l'OM thank you, family," Gonzalez tweeted after the match alongside a picture of him with his Marseille team-mates.

Not the first time Alvaro Gonzalez is part of an issue. Earlier, in 2016, when he used to play for Espanyol had called Lionel Messi 'short' during the clash against FC Barcelona.

The incident took place when Gonzalez had fouled Messi in the second leg of their Copa del Rey round-of-16 tie, the two were involved in some on-field banter.

Gonzalez haad revealed how he tried to knock out Messi with some cruel jibes, but the Argentine came right back at him. Speaking to RMC Gonzalez had said: "It is quite a funny anecdote. We used to banter each other back and forth."

"I said to him: ‘You are really small, minuscule’."

"He looks at me and responds: ‘You, you are really bad at football’."
