Malala Yousafzai faced massive pushback on social media for parroting Pakistani narrative on Jammu and Kashmir, asking for an intervention from 'leaders at UNGA' and beyond.
Malala Yousafzai faced massive pushback on social media for parroting Pakistani narrative on Jammu and Kashmir, asking for an intervention from 'leaders at UNGA' and beyond.
Most Indian Twitterati raised questions about why Malala is bothered about what is happening in another country and has no time for the brutality happening in Pakistan's Baluchistan and other areas. But the most scathing attack was done by Indian ace shooter Heena Sidhu.

Malala claims Kashmiri girl missed her exam on Aug 12, Twitterati point out it was Eid on that day
Heena, a champion shooter who has won laurels for the country in many international competitions launched a stinging attack on Malala. Countering the Nobel Laureate's tweetstorm, Sidhu said:
Ok so you propose handing over Kashmir to Pakistan because over there girls like yourself have had tooooo good of an education that you nearly lost your life and ran away from your country never to return. Why dont you show us by going back to Pakistan first?? https://t.co/BWt8UoSyqV

Sidhu tweeted:
" Ok so you propose handing over Kashmir to Pakistan because over there girls like yourself have had tooooo good of an education that you nearly lost your life and ran away from your country never to return. Why dont you show us by going back to Pakistan first?? "
Basically she reminded Malala how she had to leave the country after being shot by Talibans in Pakistan, and she can't even enter Pakistan due to fear for her life. While Malala was busy lecturing Indians over something she has no locus about, Heena reminded the activist that she might like to check what is happening in her own country.
1. What did Malala tweet?
Malala's full statement:
In the last week, I’ve spent time speaking with people living and working in #Kashmir - journalists, human rights lawyers and students.
I wanted to hear directly from girls living in Kashmir right now. It took a lot of work from a lot of people to get their stories because of the communications blackout. Kashmiris are cut off from the world and unable to make their voices heard.
Here is what three girls told me, in their own words: “The best way to describe the situation in Kashmir right now is absolute silence. We have no way of finding out what’s happening to us. All we could hear is the steps of troops outside our windows. It was really scary.”
“I feel purposeless and depressed because I can’t go to school. I missed my exams on August 12 and I feel my future is insecure now. I want to be a writer and grow to be an independent, successful Kashmiri woman. But it seems to be getting more difficult as this continues.”
“People speaking out for us adds to our hope. I am longing for the day when Kashmir will be free of the misery we’ve been going through for decades.”
I am deeply concerned about reports of 4,000 people, including children, arbitrarily arrested & jailed, about students who haven’t been able to attend school for more than 40 days, about girls who are afraid to leave their homes.
I am asking leaders, at #UNGA and beyond, to work towards peace in Kashmir, listen to Kashmiri voices and help children go safely back to school.
2. When Heena Sidhu refused to don headscarf and hence didn't participate in Iran
In 2016, then Asian Champion, Heena Sidhu refused to play competition in Iran speaking out against their strict dress code where women athletes had to necessarily don the Hijab.
Im not a revolutionary. But I feel dat making it mandatory for even a sportsperson to wear hijab is not in the spirit of a Sport. (2)

3. How Malala got called out
She said she wanted to be PM of Pakistan.

Now she is sounding serious about that.#JaneBhiDoYaron https://t.co/gHudGSJyfC
This fraud keeps her lips sealed when Hindu and Sikh girls are abducted, raped, forcibly converted and married off in the name of Islam. @malala is a disgrace. https://t.co/Frcpwc8DL1

Not a word ever came from @Malala when thousands of Hindu girls raped and forced to convert in Islamic Pakistan that use fighter jets to drop bombs in occupied #Balochistan
Did you know that Islamist Malala's father was part of attack on Indian high commission in London? https://t.co/97ra2L1Gsa
Spend some time in Pakistan where the minority girls are getting picked up converted n raped. BTW the hole in your head is thanks to your pakis. https://t.co/pIcDsPepi4

Biggest hypocrite ever. Can you dare to speak about plight of Pakhtuns, Balochis and Sindhis? You're nothing but a stooge of the West looking for a political career. https://t.co/jsclIdISo8
— Devika (@Dayweekaa) September 14, 2019
Malala uses her Nobel winner status to talk only about Kashmir. What about Hindu/Sikh girls getting forcibly converted in Pakistan? What about Baloch? Malala’s statements are simply to please Pak Army so that she can return home.@NobelPrize You have honoured a female Khomeini. https://t.co/Lhz8bTkbWY
