Australia need five wickets in the second test to secure a series-levelling victory with India's daunting run chase on a menacing pitch teetering at stumps on day four on Monday.

Chasing 287 runs after bowling out Australia’s second innings for 243, India reached the close at 112 for five with Hanuma Vihari 24 not out and Rishabh Pant unbeaten on nine.

India need to score 287 runs in their second innings to win the ongoing second Test against Australia in Perth. Australia were all out for 243 runs in their second innings as they added 91 runs to their overnight score on day four of Perth Test match. 

Mohammed Shami took his career best figures of 6/56 as India came back in the post-lunch session after Australia negotiated the morning session without any loss.

Australia started the day on a solid note as they extended their lead to 233 in the first session with six wickets still in their hand. Resuming at their overnight total of 132 runs, the Tim Paine-led side did not lose any wicket in the first session of the day taking their score to 190 runs till the lunch break.
