Vivek Oberoi has found himself in a controversy after he tweeted a meme on the exit polls, featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's former relationships with Salman Khan and himself, along with her current family with Abhishek Bachchan and Aaradhya Bachchan. The tweet did not go down well with the netizens as well as a number of celebs and notable dignitories, who asked the PM Narendra Modi biopic actor to apologise for his tweet

In his recent interaction with ANI, Vivek Oberoi not just refused to apologise for his tweet, but also reacted to Sonam Kapoor's comment to his tweet. Sonam had called his tweet "disgusting and classless". Vivek went on to say that sometimes people say certain things on social media just to project themselves as being 'cool'. He also advised Sonam to overact less in her movies and overreact less on social media.

Vivek Oberoi, who has landed himself in a controversy after sharing a meme on exit poll that featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and referred to her relationships with Salman Khan, himself and marriage with Abhishek Bachchan as 'Opinion Poll, 'Exit Poll' and 'Result' respectively. While the netizens bashed him left, right and centre on Twitter, the actor also came in hot waters with the National Commission of Women (NCW), for the 'crass' remark.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued a notice to actor Oberoi demanding explanation over his tweet on the exit polls. Rekha Sharma, NCW chairperson, said "We would like him (Vivek Oberoi) to apologise on social media and personally also to the person concerned. If he doesn't do so, we will see what legal action we can take against him. We will be talking to Twitter to remove that tweet immediately."

Reacting to the NCW's notice, Vivek Oberoi said, "Is there anything wrong in it? Is there some abuse in it? Is there any obscene picture in it? It is just a creative meme made at the time of elections. I saw it and laughed. I have no problem in saying sorry as I am an expert in saying sorry. But, please, tell me what wrong have I said." 

"I am waiting for the notice from Maharashtra's Women Commission and the NCW. I would also like to meet them and give an explanation because I don't think I have done something wrong," he added

While a number of netizens and celebs have been asking Vivek Oberoi to apologise for his remark, Vivek refused to do so and added that people are trying to politicise it.

In his interaction with the agency, Vivek said, "Those who are in the meme have no objection while scores of politicians are trying to politicise the issue. They don't work on issues but start their politics on such non-issues. There is a 'Didi' in West Bengal who puts people behind jail for a meme. Now, these people are demanding to put Vivek Oberoi behind bars. They were unable to stop my film and hence are now are trying to put me behind bars."

He added, "People are asking me to apologise. I have no problem in apologising, but tell me what wrong have I done. If I have done something wrong, I will apologise. I don't think I have done anything wrong. What's wrong in it? Somebody tweeted a meme and I laughed at it."
