He joined the party in presence of Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal.
Sunny Deol's father yesteryears superstar Dharmendra is a former BJP MP. He fought once and won from Bikaner in 2004. Today, Sunny Deol invoked memory of his father working for Atal Bhari Vajpayee and said that he would similarly support PM Modi. It is expected that Sunny Deol will be contesting from a Punjab seat.
Known for his superhit dialogues, Gadar actor Sunny Deol said that he will let work do the talking. Sunny Deol is best known for his movies like Border and Gadar-Ek Prem Katha. Dharmendra's wife Hema Malini is also contesting election for BJP from Uttar Pradesh.

BJP president Amit Shah met Bollywood actor Sunny Deol at Pune Airport lounge on Friday evening. The meeting which lasted around five minutes.
Yogesh Gogawale, BJP district president, Pune while talking to ANI confirmed that the meeting between the two was scheduled but refused to divulge the details of the conversation.
"It was a scheduled meeting. I don't know what conversation took place between them," Yogesh told ANI. "Amit Shah came to Baramati as per the scheduled programme. When he was at the airport, Sunny Deol was also there. He met Amit Shah for five minutes," he added.

"I am indeed very happy to receive firebrand, popular, very committed to his art, young great artiste from the Bollywood, Sunny Deol. The moment we got to know that he is coming into the party, I could only relate to the film 'Border' that he had made... He is such a hero who has an artistic blood running in his family," Sitharaman said.

Welcoming Sunny on board, Goyal said, "This reminds me of the moment when in 2008, Dharmendra ji was recuperating after a surgery, but still on party's call he came to Parliament. Later he went back to the United States to finish his treatment. I have full faith that Sunny will work with the same passion."
