While Katy Perry stole the show, desi girls Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone’s looks left much to be desired
Met Gala 2018’s theme ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ was executed flawlessly by some, while others dressed like it was any other red carpet outing. One’s got to give it to Priyanka Chopra for stepping out of her comfort zone and embracing a gold-embroidered hooded Ralph Lauren gown. However, the ensemble left little to be written about it. On the other hand, Deepika Padukone opted for an Atelier Prabal Gurung strapless gown with a sculptural shoulder bloom, which didn’t fit into the theme at all. Here’s looking at those who stood out for all the right and wrong reasons.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA
DULL AND INSIPID — Priyanka Chopra’s Ralph Lauren looked like a widowed aunt in a sea of va va voom beaded Balmain dresses and Versace chainmails. We would have loved to see her in a figure-hugging metallic dress with some Catholic elements instead. Besides the ornate hoodie, the burgundy outfit wasn’t a spectacular pick.

DEEPIKA PADUKONE
WHAT THE HEY! — DP’s Prabal Gurung will be remembered as the most forgettable number, especially when the Met theme offered so much playing field to experiment and have fun. It’s high time she fires her stylist who lets her down day in and day out.
3/5
KATY PERRY
OUR LADY OF SALVATION — Out-dazzling everyone else was Katy Perry in a winged, custom-made Atelier Versace with hand-painted degrade feathers and a gold chainmail mini dress with bronze net crystal overlay and matching boots.
5/5
RIHANNA
HERE COMES THE POPE — Trust Rihanna to always throw a pleasant sartorial surprise. Her rebellious take on papacy in a Maison Margiela creation hit all the right style notes. Having said that, we wish her headgear would have been slightly modified to suit her face structure. But full marks for owning it nonetheless!
