A number of Indian actors from Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan to Rajinikanth charge Rs 100 crore as their fees per film. Some of the most bankable actors today started by doing odd jobs and have now made their name in the industry. One such actor who started acting at the age of 19, is now a superstar who charges Rs 200 crore per film.

The actor is a superstar in the South and has a huge fan following. Also, his recent film is being showered with love from the fans. He is none other than Thalapathy Vijay.

In an interview, veteran actor Ponnambalam revealed an incident when Vijay got slapped on the set of a movie. He recalled in an interview how directors were hesitant to work with Thalapthy Vijay in the beginning. So his father director SA Chandrasekhar, took charge of directing and producing the film with his son as the protagonist.

He recalled the incident from the sets of Senthoorappandi when Vijay was just 19 and got slapped by SA Chandrasekhar in front of the whole crew. However, Ponnambalam explained that Chandrasekhar’s actions were driven by a deeper concern – the desire to see Vijay become a superstar. In an interview in 2017, Chandrasekhar revealed that the 10-year-old Vijay was paid Rs 500 for his performance in the film by actor-producer PS Veerappa.

Thalapthy Vijay has now become the highest-paid actor in India as according to reports, he reportedly charged a whopping Rs 200 crore for his recent film Leo. He is one of the most bankable actors and has a reported net worth of Rs 420 crore according to GQ as of 2022.

Helmed by Lokesh Kanangaraj, Leo stars Thalapathy Vijay, Sanjay Dutt, and Trisha Krishnan in key roles. The film has received immense love from the audience since the day it was released and has collected Rs 458.80 crore in six days.
