State Bank of India (SBI), India's largest lender, has issued a notification asking all its customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar before June 30 to avoid any inconvenience in the future.

The SBI has also posted a tweet regarding the same from its official Twitter handle. "We advise our customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience and continue enjoying a seamless banking service," said the tweet.

According to SBI, the linking of PAN with Aadhaar is mandatory and if PAN and Aadhaar are not linked, then PAN will be rendered inactive. This means that the SBI customers will not be able to quote PAN numbers for conducting specified transactions. The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar is June 30, 2021.

How to know whether your Aadhaar is linked with the bank or not?

To link Aadhaar with the bank or any other place, first of all, you should check whether your Aadhaar card is linked with the bank or not. For this,

Step 1: Go to the official website uidai.gov.in.

Step 2: Click on 'Check Aadhaar/Bank Account Linking Statu'’ in the 'My Aadhaar' tab.

Step 3: After that enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number.

Step 4: Then enter the security code and click on 'Send OTP'.

Step 5: After this, you will get an OTP on your registered number, through which you can log in.

Step 6: Then you will know whether your bank account is linked with an Aadhaar card or not.

What happens if your SBI account gets suspended?

Once your SBI account is suspended, all the money deposited in your account will be frozen. You will stop receiving your government subsidy as well. Apart from this, whatever government facility you are getting directly in the bank account, will not be available further. After the account is suspended, you will neither be able to withdraw nor deposit money from your account. This is the reason why people are now rushing to get KYC done or mailing them to the bank.

Are documents to be submitted by all customers?

Tagging SBI, a customer asked on Twitter why the bank is doing KYC again? Will everyone have to submit documents again? Replying to them, SBI said, "As per RBI rules, these documents are being asked for linking the account with the user’s Aadhaar and PAN card. If the Aadhaar card and PAN are already linked with your bank account, then there is no need to submit the documents again.
