Heavy rains caused waterlogging in parts of Mumbai on Friday and also led to the diversion of traffic routes in several parts of the city. Due to heavy rains and waterlogging the railway tracks were seen waterlogged and on the slow line near Kurla-Vidyavihar, trains are running 20-25 minutes late.

Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, said "Slow line traffic between Kurla -Vidyavihar have been diverted on the fast line. 

The Harbor line is also running 20-25 minutes late. Trans-Harbor line traffic is running smoothly.

"Due to heavy rains and waterlogging near Chunabhatti station, the railway tracks begin getting waterlogged. Meanwhile, Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai has predicted "light to moderate rain in city and suburbs with the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places" for the next 24 hours.

Earlier on Tuesday, the financial capital received 51.5 mm rainfall, while suburban areas recorded 54.6 mm rainfall, an IMD report said.

Water-logging was reported from chronic spots of Dadar, Parel, Wadala, Sion, besides low-lying areas in Malad, Santacruz, Dahisar.

While the suburban services on the Central Railway were hit badly with delays of over 30-minutes due to speed restrictions, Western Railway traffic has not been affected.

K.S. Hosalikar, Head of Climate Research and Services, Pune shared the latest satellite images at 8.30 a.m. indicating intense clouds over Mumbai suburbs and Thane leading to some very intense spells in the last 3-4 hours.

He said the entire coastal Konkan is covered with clouds and North Konkan-Mumbai needs to watch out.

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation is on an alert mode and the water levels of Mothi River are being monitored.

The entire North Konkan area comprising the twin districts of Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban, neighbouring districts of Palghar, Thane and Raigad which comprise the MMR is getting heavy rainfall.
