Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday replied to the motion of thanks on Presidents' address in Lok Sabha. It was Prime Minister's first address in the Parliament after the BJP-led NDA government was voted back to power with a thumping majority.

PM Modi during his speech responded to Congress Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's remark who on Monday mocked the BJP government asking why it failed to put alleged thieves Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in jail.

Speaking in Lok Sabha, PM Modi took a jibe on Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and said that it's not emergency that anybody can be put in jail. We work according to the law and if someone was getting bail then he should enjoy it. They don't indulge in vendetta.

"The country was not under Emergency and due process of law will be followed. If you get bail, enjoy it," PM Modi said in a veiled reference to Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.

Invoking the Emergency of 1975, Prime Minister Narendra Modi rejected Congress allegations that it was targeting Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and said "due process" will be followed while continuing the attack on corruption.

PM Modi further said that his government will continue to take action against corruption.
