While the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is considered to be one of the toughest entrance exams to crack in India, a girl from Kota named Prerna ended up clearing the medical exam with flying colors, and her success story is nothing short of inspirational.

Prerna lived in Kota, Rajasthan with her brothers and sisters when she began preparing for the NEET exam. However, tragedy struck when her father passed away, leaving the family with a major financial burden and a massive amount of loans.

NEET aspirant Prerna had the responsibility of taking care of her four siblings and paying a loan of Rs 27 lakh. The family was also forced to vacate their house due to non-payment of the loan, and soon the Covid-19 pandemic hit, making matters worse.

Vowing to beat the odds stacking up against her, Prerna decided to clear the NEET exam no matter what. The girl used to study in a room so small that one could only sit, not lie down, and used to study for 10-12 hours daily for the medical entrance exam.

The only means to survive for Prerna and her siblings was through the Rs 500 per month pension they got in their mother’s name, and some help from their relatives. Prerna couldn’t afford any public transport and only traveled by her bicycle or by foot.

Prerna ended up cracking the NEET exam in her first attempt, scoring exceptionally well in NEET 2022. The young girl scored a total of 686 marks out of 720 and had AIR 1033 out of a total 2.5 lakh students who ended up clearing the exam.

After the NEET UG Result 2023, she told the media that her father was her biggest inspiration, as he taught her that no matter the financial strain, no one can stop her from pursuing her dream.
