Black Cat Commando or National Security Guard (NSG) selection process and criteria

The National Security Guard was formed in the year 1984 to protect some very important, VIP people of the country, including the Prime Minister of India.

Speaking of the NSG selection process, there is no direct recruitment method to it. For NSG, soldiers are selected from troops of army and paramilitary forces. Reports state that about 53 percent of the selection for NSG is done from the Indian Army. The other 47 percent of commandos are selected from four paramilitary forces i.e. CRPF, ITBP, RAF, and BSF.

How much does an NSG earn?

The salary of NSG commandos ranges from Rs 84,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh per month. The average salary is around Rs 1.5 lakh per month. Apart from the salary, special allowances are also offered to these commandos.

    NSG training

The commandos go through extensive 90-day training. Initially, one has to pass an examination for the selection which is a week of meticulous training. It is said that 80% 'jawaans' fail during this and only 20% reach the next stage, Zee News reported. By the last round of tests, only 15% cross the final threshold.

After the final selection, the toughest round begins. This is a 90-day training session. During this, both physical and mental training is given. Training is also provided for Battle Assault Obstruction Course and Counter-Terrorist Conditioning Course. It all ends with a psychological test.
