WTC final: Mohammed Shami on fire as Team India dictate terms in first session on Day 5

Team India pacer Mohammed Shami ran in and breathed just fire in the first session on the fifth day of the World Test Championship (WTC) final as Virat Kohli's men stormed back into the contest getting three big wickets of the New Zealand side.

Skipper Kane Williamson was his usual watchful and patient self and the Kiwis got through the first hour unscathed. However, it was Shami, who made the ball talk and induced the mistakes from the other end as Williamson looked in no mood for a hurry.

Ross Taylor chipped a fuller ball from Shami straight into the hands of the diving covers fielder Shubman Gill, who flew towards his right to take a stunning catch. After Taylor fell, every batsman, who came wanted to take the initiative and Indian pacers were up to the challenge.

Henry Nicholls after keeping a hostile spell from Shami and Ishant Sharma at bay gave in as a delivery outside the off-stump from the latter and Nicholls tried to poke it and Rohit Sharma dived on to his left to send him back and India had their second wicket of the morning.

And, Shami was in no mood to rest and in his next over, he knocked the stumps of the wicket-keeper batsman BJ Watling, who is playing his final game and it was truly India's session as New Zealand scored just 34 runs and lost three wickets.
