US drone strike kill eight in Northwest Pakistan

The drone targeted the compound of a suspected militant in the remote Jandola area between North and South Waziristan Agencies that is dominated by Taliban fighters.

At least eight suspected militants were killed when a US drone struck a compound in the volatile Waziristan tribal region in northwest Pakistan today, the 16th such attack in a month.

The drone targeted the compound of a suspected militant in the remote Jandola area between North and South Waziristan Agencies that is dominated by Taliban fighters.

The US has carried out at least 16 drone strikes in Waziristan this month, the highest number for a single month since the attacks began in 2004.

Yesterday, at least eight persons, including suspected militants, were killed when US drones targeted a vehicle in Shawa area, 25km from Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan Agency.

Five suspected militants were killed in a drone strike on Sunday.
