Life is challenging when you have a disability. If your impairment is evident, you may experience difficulties in functioning as well as random stares on the street. Overall, it is challenging for the person who is going through it.

Talking about this, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 13’ recently welcomed visually impaired contestant Himani Bundela. She won the fastest finger first and grabbed the opportunity of sitting on the hot seat.

On the show, Himani presented her life narrative in a very emotional manner. When Big B asked how this happened to her, she told that she was involved in an accident in 11th grade. She had several injuries and was bleeding from various organs as a result of the accident.

Later, when she experienced some discomfort in her eye, she saw an eye doctor, who informed her that the impact of the accident had caused her retina to shift out of place. The doctor informed her family that if they did not have surgery within the next 2-3 days, she would lose her vision.

Himani then explained that within eight months she had 4-5 surgeries but nothing worked and she lost her vision completely.

Her family had been wrecked, and she herself had been shattered. They believed that their lives would no longer be meaningful. But there was a light of optimism in their lives. Her father came across an article about Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University in the newspaper. This university specialised in providing education to people who were physically challenged. Himani was accepted and began studying through audio courses.

Himani completed her further education and now works as a teacher in a school with both children with and without disabilities. She makes them study accordingly.

She employs a variety of techniques to make learning more engaging. She claims that she does not utilise a blackboard when teaching math classes. She instructs the children to make use of their fingertips.

Calling it, ‘maths magic’, she makes the subject easier to understand for students.

During this talk, Big B also inquired about who picks her up or drops her off at school. Either my father or brother should drop me off and pick me up, she explained.

She was grateful to her students for this. When she enters the school, they  assist her in finding the appropriate location.

According to the promo, Himani will risk everything in order to win 7 crores, and she has already surpassed the 1 crore threshold.
