Yuvraj Singh took a major step towards getting back to active cricket when he batted at the National Cricket Academy here on Tuesday.
Apart from Yuvraj, Irfan Pathan also had batting stint, while Virender Sehwag trained indoors. Later, both Yuvraj and Ishant Sharma, who underwent an ankle surgery, did a few laps. Virat Kohli and Praveen Kumar were also spotted in the afternoon.
“It was a big achievement to get to the nets. It felt really good, I’m happy,” he said. “It was not a bad session, considering I was training for the first time after six months. I was tired after 15 minutes. However, I am sure every new day will be better. Obviously, my body will tire quickly due to what I have gone through. But I will keep increasing the practice load daily and my body will come back to normal quickly,” he said.
“My confidence level will improve with training. I am sure my body will get better if I spend more time here; it will reach 100 per cent fitness. I will also be playing a practice match soon,” Yuvraj informed.
