Tokyo Olympics: Indian Olympic Association unveils official kit for Team India

IOA President Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra congratulated the athletes who have qualified for the Olympics. So far 100 athletes have qualified.

The Indian Olympic Association unveiled the official team kit including the sports jerseys and the ceremonial attire in presence of a few of the athletes taking part in the Tokyo Olympics scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

Hon’ble Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mr. Kiren Rijiju, IOA President, Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra and Secretary-General Mr. Rajeev Mehta were present in the ceremony along with the Olympics-bound athletes Bajrang Punia, Ravi Kumar, Deepak Punia, Sumit, Seema Bisla and Neeraj Chopra.

While Li-Nang will supply the sports attire from training kits to the travel kits and playing kist as well, Raymond will provide the ceremonial kits. Li-Nang has designed the kits in association with designer Iditri Goel integrating national colours and unique graphics.

The honourable chief guest for the ceremony, Mr Kiren Rijiju said, "We are just 50 days away from the Tokyo Olympic Games. Now every day, every second counts. The launch of the official kit of the Indian Olympic team is an important aspect and it is very significant that it is being launched on this day. I am happy to say that our athletes are well prepared for the biggest sporting event and as our Honourable Prime Minister has said, the entire country must rally behind our athletes so that they are motivated to give their best at Tokyo. I urge every Indian to cheer for the Indian squad.”

On the other hand, Mr. Batra congratulated all the athletes who have qualified for the games and was confident that Indian athletes will make their country proud.

A total of 100 athletes have qualified till now including 56 men and 44 women. Around 25-35 more athletes are expected to qualify. 

Athletes from 11 sports including boxing, hockey, wrestling, yachting, athletics, archery, equestrian, fencing, rowing, shooting and table tennis have qualified and athletes from few more sports are expected to be on the flight to Tokyo.
