Australian cricketer Shaun Marsh has proved his fitness, ahead of the Boxing Day Test by smashing an unbeaten 99 off 52 balls for Perth Scorchers against Melbourne Renegades at Etihad Stadium in the Big Bash League tournament.

The game was the second of a three-phase fitness trial for Marsh, who was battling back injury for over six weeks.

Marsh said it was "great to be back on the park again'', added that his back was now "pretty good''.

"It has been (good) for a couple of days now and I am just happy I got out there and did well. I'm confident if I get selected I can go well,'' thetelegraph.com.au quoted Marsh, ass saying.

The final call to play in the Boxing Day Test rests on Marsh, who added that he was aware of his responsibilities in the wake of Ryan Harris being ruled out of the Boxing Day Test due to hip injury.

"I am confident if I get through the T20 game against Melbourne Renegades and what I have done the past three to four days that I will be right and ready to go. I feel like I haven't lost too much touch since South Africa,'' Marsh added.

He said a new Pilates program and revamped rehabilitation approach in Perth had been crucial in speeding up his recovery.

He is looking forward to play against India in Melbourne saying he had worked too hard to miss the game

"I have worked pretty hard over the past three or fours years to get myself in this position. There is no better feeling than playing in the Test team. To play in front of 75,000 fans is a dream of mine,'' he added.
