PV Sindhu v/s Nozomi Okuhara: Sindhu defeats Okuhara 22-20, 11-21, 21-18 to win Korea Open Super Series


PV Sindhu beat Nozomi Okuhara 22-20, 11-21, 21-18 in the women's singles of the Korea Open Super Series final on Sunday.  She is the first Indian to win in Korea. Sindhu avenged her loss against Okuhara in the World Badminton Championship final in Glasgow. 

Here is how it happened:

It's 20-17 and Sindhu is just one point away.


But Sindhu take the next point to reclaim her lead, 19-16. Just 2 points away now. 


Okuhara has reduced the lead to just two points now- 18-16 


Sindhu extends her lead with an unplayable smash down the sidelines.

Oh what a game- Okuhara takes two points to make it 13-15. 


Okuhara is fighting hard but Sindhu is staying ahead of her- 15-11 now.


Okuhara is not going to let this one go easily- she claws back to win two points. It's 11-7 now.


Sindhu is leading 11-5 at the break in the third game. Great show in the game by the Indian so far.


Okuhara takes back one point but then makes some errors as Sindhu extends her lead to 9-5


4 straight points for the Indian, Sindhu is leading 8-4 now .​


Another tight start- Sindhu is the aggressor here, leading 5-4. 


The last time these two players faced off each other it was an EPIC encounter. Seems like, this one is also getting there.

Okuhara wins 2nd game 21-11.​ She has dominated Sindhu in the this game who was always trailing.


Four straight points for Okuhara. She is now on a game point. 20-10.

Sindhu fighting hard here but Okuhara has got a very healthy lead. She takes two more consecutive points to make it 14-8.


Break in the 2nd game, Okuhara is leading 11-6. Sindhu need to break her momentum.  


Okuhara is off to an aggressive start in the second game. She is leading 7-3 now.

Two consecutive points for Okuhara, she leads 19-17. ​


Another long exchange and Sindhu wins it to make it 17-17.


Nothing separates the two, 15-15 at this time. Sindhu wins an intense rally but Okuhara is back on the next point.


It is Neck-to-Neck. Both players win alternate points to take it to 14-14. 


And now Sindhu comes back to make it an even 12-12. 


Okuhara leads the first game 11-9 at break in the first game. 


Okuhara is going nowhere. She rallies back to make it 7-7. ​


Sindhu is off to a good start. She takes the lead 5-3 against Okuhara.




Indonesia's Anthony Sinisuka Ginting defeats compatriot Jonatan Christie 21-13, 19-21, 22-20 to win the men's singles title. ​

PV Sindhu faces Nozomi Okuhara in the final of Korea Open. Sindhu will look to avenge her World Championships loss to the Japanese player. Their match is the fourth in the order of the play today.
