Neymar had a fabulous game for Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League encounter against RB Leipzig as he assisted in two goals. Paris Saint Germain managed to enter the final of the Champions League after a long time and on their 50th anniversary as a club, they are staring at a slice of history. However, the Brazilian superstar might be in trouble and he is in danger of missing the historic UEFA Champions League final due to breaching the coronavirus rules.

UEFA had announced a strict ‘return to play’ protocol in which there were certain guidelines in place due to the coronavirus pandemic. One of them included not swapping shirts with opponents. However, Neymar was apparently seen swapping his shirt with an RB Leipzig defender. In the past, swapping jerseys was common but under the new guidelines, it has been strictly prohibited.

Punishment uncertain

The protocols clearly mentioned that players are recommended to refrain from swapping shirts with opponents. However, the 31-page document does not mention what the punishment would be for swapping shirts, but PSG fans are sweating over the availability of Neymar. The 28-year-old Neymar may also be asked to self-isolate for 14 days and this will also see the striker missing the Champions League finals.

Paris Saint-Germain played solid football and they will be eager to see who they will face in the final. Lyon have had a strong season but Bayern Munich have raised their game to a totally different level. They blasted aside Barcelona 8-2 in the quarterfinal in what was Barcelona’s heaviest defeat in close to 70 years. Bayern Munich are the reigning Bundesliga champions as well. Paris Saint Germain, who are celebrating 50 years as a club, had only appeared once in the final of a European competition and that was their UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup victory in 1996. In 1997, they were runners-up. On the other hand, RB Leipzig have been playing in the professional circuit for only 11 years but have however surpassed expectations by reaching at this stage of the UEFA Champions League.
