McLaren Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton is confident that he can put up a good show at Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix to boost his title hopes.

Hamilton had triumphed in F1’s only night race last year, and knows that he needs to dazzle on the street circuit to up the pressure in the championship fight.

“Winning in Singapore last year was one of the most satisfying victories of my career. The whole team pushed for that result. We overcame a number of problems and never gave up until it was in the bag,” The Sun quoted Hamilton, as saying.

“It’s difficult to say accurately how competitive we’ll be this weekend. Singapore is far closer to places like Monaco and Hungary, where we’ve struggled relative to the competition.”

“But the engineers are positive we have made good progress and we head into the weekend with renewed confidence after some useful tests,” he added.

With just five races left, Red Bull’s Mark Webber has regained the championship lead.

At 187 points, Webber is now five points ahead of Hamilton and 21 in front of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
