Indian footballer, Godwin Franco, exposed the corrupt state in Indian football by providing screenshots of his email conversation with Football Players' Association of India (FPAI) on his official Twitter account on Friday.

There were six tweets from the professional footballer in the thread and the one tweet which had the screenshots read, “With the best interest, please read this and read from the picture posted - the corrupt attitude in Indian Football. I have the emails with me. 1. Part of my email to fifpro [International Federation of Professional Footballers] & the Football Players Association of India in relation to justice for football players in India.”

Godwin has been in professional football for over 15 years now. He is a winner of 14 trophies with various clubs including the Indian Super League (with Chenaiyin FC in 2015), I-League and Indian Super Cup (Dempo S.C.). He even made two appearances for India in 2006.

In his email to FPAI and FIFPRO, he narrated the sad state of Indian football in a hope to receive a positive response from both the bodies. “I want to say that the state affairs in India for football players are a disaster. Certain agents along with certain people at clubs have been signing players with bad performances, poor form, lack of fitness and players who have no abilities that are required to play football professionally,” Godwin wrote in his email to the two football bodies.

Godwin, who currently plays for C.D Guadalupe in a Football League in Mexico, then posted FPAI’s response to his email.

“The immoral reply to me from Football Players Association of India which says, ‘if you claim that there are Agents who get players "in", why do you not use these same agents?’,” the midfielder tweeted.

Godwin made it very clear in the same thread that he will never ever play club football in India.

“My reply to that to the Football Players Association of India was this, ‘Please don’t tell me to use unrighteous methods of getting into clubs. This is totally wrong on your part to tell me to do this.”

The 33-year-old midfielder then lashing at the unacceptable reply from the football body added that “This is a reason why quality of football at display in India has been very poor overall, as there are people who get players who do not have abilities of a football player, who do not deserve, ‘in’ teams through corrupt means.”

An upset Godwin, who was born in Socorro, a town in Goa, said that voiced out his support for the genuine footballers who are being robbed of their opportunities by these corrupt people. “The ones who cannot control & pass a ball properly have been put on the pitch to play which makes quality of the game that should be watched poor to watch.

No one can escape from the justice of the one and only true GOD JESUS. Before exercising His Justice He offers His Infinite Love and Infinite Mercy (Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation) to repent and get united with Him, which is only through His Catholic Church. Please share,” Godwin ended his thread.
