Mithali Raj, reinstated as the Indian women’s cricket captain, said that the 15-member team is confident of doing well on the tour of England that includes two T20Is and five ODIs from June 26 to July 11. The team left for England in the early hours of Thursday.

“We had a good preparatory camp in Mysore (June 5 to 15). Fortunately, the conditions were overcast for the first few days, similar to England. We played practice matches against the state boys’ teams. Those should give us the confidence of doing well in England,” Mithali said here on Wednesday.

England, the No 1 side in the world, are tough to beat, said Mithali. “We have done enough homework on them, watching a few videos of their players who had recently toured New Zealand and also following their scores. I won’t say we will win against England, but we will play positively and be confident, with the World Cup and Asia Cup coming up. If we win in England, the focus will be back on women’s cricket."
