Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen is well and recovering at the hospital. On Tuesday, Eriksen took to Instagram to inform everyone that he is doing fine but he still has to undergo a few examinations and thanked everyone for their wishes and messages.

Eriksen had collapsed while playing and had to be given chest compressions on the field during a European Championship game against Finland on Saturday, June 12. Eriksen fell to the ground near the sideline late in the first half and was immediately surrounded by medical personnel.

Eriksen collapsed suddenly while running near the left touchline. Danish players were in tears as medical staff tried to revive the Inter Milan player, who suddenly collapsed near the touchline. His teammates formed a shielding wall around him to give him privacy as the medics treated him.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, June 15, Eriksen wrote, "Hello everyone. Big thanks for your sweet and amazing greetings and messages from all around the world. It means a lot to me and my family. I'm fine - under the circumstances. I still have to go through some examinations at the hospital, but I feel okay. Now, I will cheer on the boys on the Denmark team in the next matches. Play for all of Denmark."

The incident shocked the entire sporting world seeing a football player suffering a cardiac arrest and collapsing during a live game. But, thankfully for everyone including the Denmark football team, his family and his fans all around the world, he was responding and was given urgent attention that helped him recover and is doing well now.

The match was suspended immediately and continued after some time where Finland won 1-0 but the celebrations were muted.
